Civet Cat

If I ask you would you give me some time
A brief moment shared in rhythm and rhyme
I will not ask for any more than that
Just the merest glimpse of sweet paradise
Inhaling your sweet scent of civet cat
Aroma feeding my inner desire
Just a moment of lust shared between us
Ignites the spark of eternity’s fire
The supreme love of Vulcan and Venus
Again, I ask for a moment in time
The question hidden in casual chitchat
My words lost, disguised grains of wild rice
Will your heart see all this that I desire
The dark love within romantic snugness

A heartfelt welcome to Neopoet, I liked this poem a lot, though I admit it took me two or three readings to catch the rhyme and pace. I hope you enjoy your time with us, and I look forward to many more poems. Regards Roscoe...

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.

Thank you Roscoe.

The Ivorian Sonnet has a complex and variable rhyme scheme but it does make for interesting poetics and allows someone like me who was taught strict meter and form to ease up and enjoy playing with rhyme.

I suck at all kinds of sonnets. Thus I feel unqualified to offer suggestions. But I did enjoy the read.....BTW if you have any questions about the site just ask anybody including me. If I don't know the answer I'll steer you to somebody who does......stan

Thanks Stan

So far the site seems easy enough to navigate - now it will throw something techy at me no doubt and I'll melt into a puddle of panic.

To be fair this is one of my older writes as I had nothing new to post as life took over for a few months and writing sat on the back burner. Back on tack now.

and classical references to refer to a beast most famous for shitting coffee beans.

I like your sense of humour.

Thank you Jess

Aye, this was tongue in cheek as it's not only coffee beans, the civet cat produces musk used in high end lady's perfume and that just tickled at my sense of humour with the image of high society ladies splashing on the cat pee to go out.
