The Bell

Again tonight a hazy hue
Suspended there within my view
I watched in awe while wide awake
then said a prayer, "my soul to take"

I have no fear of the unknown
and do not feel I am alone
Good or bad I have no clue
I hope and wish that it is you

Is this my mind just playing games
Or have I finally gone insane
A sign from you, that ringing bell
or something evil straight from hell

You my friend, I miss so much
Emails, pictures, texts and such
The voice. the laugh, the number TWO
Coveralls, ball caps, and all things you

You had to go, there is no doubt
You loved so hard, your heart gave out
Leaving your minions behind to grieve
Feeling such sorrow, you had to leave

Today the cardinals within the trees
seemed so deliberate, just for me
Signs from heaven, how would I know
This is so hard, I miss you so

I'll search for pennies upon the ground
and hope the cardinals keep coming 'round
I'll keep a watch for that hazy hue
For in my heart I know it's you.

Dedicated to Norman C. May. Rest in Peace dear friend.

"Every time you hear a bell ring, some angel's just got his wings"
It's A Wonderful Life (1946)

They say...when a cardinal appears in your yard, it's a visitor from heaven.

I notice that there is no review request, rightly so considering that this is a sensitive poem where sentiments and emotions are pretty vividly expressed...

Thanks for taking the time to read and leave a comment. Being that Norman was my best friend, indeed the emotions are high in this piece but never feel you cannot give your honest opinion. I welcome your feedback.

Good to see you making a post. Sorry that the reason is a sad one..........stan

Thanks for responding. I apologize for the sad content. I don't write much these days so when something moves me to write, I let it. Norman holds a special place in my heart.

Thanks Stan. Hope you are well.

I hope this means that you are going to post more often? This is well written and makes the most of the rhyme and pattern. Sorry to see that the subject is one of grief. My regards, ~ Geezer.

There is value to commenting and critique, tell us how you feel about our work.
This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

Thanks so much for your reply. Not sure how much I will be posting as I don't write
as much as I once did, but getting the warm welcome may be the encouragement I need.

Thanks again.

Nice poem about a sad subject, Regards Roscoe...

Roscoe Llane,
