There are at least 1500 names of members of Neopoet some place here but as we only get about 2 comments per Item streamed this site needs a wake up call.
I have been here 10 years and still with all the new poets arriving I think we are failing as a site. Someone needs to take over the running of this great site and really insist that if you are a member then start being a useful part of NEOPOET.
All members should reaffirm that they are still active and wish to partake in a better learning site also the place for self praise is long gone.. Yours a very sad Sparrow..

.
Give critique to help keep Neopoet great.
Unconditional love to you all.

i wholeheartedly agree, le moineau.

thank you.

i'll be back!

I'm not sure how many members we have
but there are no lists available to anyone.
Our members deserve privacy, this isn't a
social club, it is a poetry site and we aren't
strong-arming participation or attendance.

We are always looking for ideas to make
the site a better experience for all, so suggestions
are welcome. We actually have an "Idea Gallery"
that hasn't been used as of late.

Not sure who the short one is and poems for
the blind? Weirdelf does post some poems
with a sound cloud app and he lets poets know
about it periodically.

Hopefully I've addressed your blog, let me know
if not.

Thanks,
Richard

whilst i agree with your thoughts regarding privacy etc in theory,
it will remain somewhat stagnant while such opinions are adhered to.
life is a big tambourine. the more that you shake it, the better it seems!

on the wee folk, Jess knows who he is. lol.

p.s.- you skipped the 'poems for the blind'. what do you think?

raise you hand, nominate yourself and say 'aye' and you can make a difference. You can already volunteer to help with competitions, workshops, the forums (they are waiting a tech update to become more useful), greeter of new members (that is an incredibly important job, first contact and all that and involves being a kind of Mentor for their first 2 weeks or so), become an Advocate. I see that you already give critique prolifically and helpfully to others, that is the best thing you or any member can do for starters.

I have never been prolific, growing up with six outspoken and feminist sisters and Mum when I got a word in edgewise I had to make it count. My preferred forms are limerick and haiku. Even my short stories coming in under 100 words. Some of those are posted on Facebook if you want to have a look. Yeah, yeah, I know, Facebook sucks and I'm currently checking out 'Minds' as an alternative, but as with all things it depends how you use it. I choose my friends and enemies carefully and post what I wilt, that is the whole of the law.

Tell me more about how to make a site more blind friendly. I kind of assumed they would have braille reader tech and apps already and this site is already purely text based apart from user's images so what else can we do?

Jess

who seem to have disappeared. Those lists are available to a very few, not even me as one of the managing directors. I've seen members re-appear after a silence of nine years and post a poem, without prompting. We value privacy very highly here and develop a communal nasty little rash at the very idea of pushing ourselves on people or asking for money. You have to look hard to even find out how.
Help>Frequently asked questions>Question: How can I contribute financially? Can I donate? How do I get a premium membership?
Answer:
Thank you very much for your interest. We carry a minimal amount of advertisements, and we do not receive government grants or other support. We exist financial because of contributions from members like you.
We encourage you to learn more about premium membership (which comes with a number of tools that help you make the most out of Neopoet) or about how you can donate.

Andrew and Paul are a couple of maniac geniuses. When they first started Neopoet as a members run democratic poetry site I joined enthusiastically and told them it was an insane idea and wouldn't last six months but I would do all I could to help. Organising poets is like herding cats.

That was 10 years ago.

We've gone through many phases from the 'Wild West' days when you posted your poems only at extreme risk to self worth and sanity through the 'Sewing Circles' days when an extreme critique was 'very nice, dear, cuppa?'. I've been suspended five times for abuse and other malfeasances but 'the cat came back, he couldn't stay away'.

I threw a tantie at another member's incompetence 3 days ago and said I was on strike for a week. [sighs] Here I am.

So I think I've answered your queries-
i. a list to view those on board ship?
(so's we can mess off to our hammocks when nowt's in progress)
No. No way no how.

ii. put me in charge of this pilgrimage
(to shed a little light and fun on your lean to)
Help in other ways. When you have proven trust, reliability and commitment you could possibly assist Mark (remark) who is in fact doing this job in a delicate, non-pushy way.

iii. more poems from the short one
who secretly hates to love me, but can't resist.
Yeah, I love you and always need to write more than I do. I secretly hate writing but I just gotta do it sometimes.

iv. poems for the blind.
Help us help them. Tell us how.

ok?

Jess

If you really want to take on a big project that would truly help Neopoet how about a "Resources Section" where information and ideas about poetry could be collected and organised? Definitely not a job for the faint-hearted.

Kelsey (swamp-witch) would be a major contributor but no way are we going to ask her to actually build the section. She already works really hard for Neopoet and enthusiastic members taking on too much and burning out is almost as much a problem as members who just want to post their 'pomes' and not contribute anything.

Ian (sparrow) made a brave attempt with his "Poetry Forms "A - Z " blogs but it needs to be site incorporated, organised and regularly updated.

Did I mention that Chris (vandiemenspeak) and I could always use a hand doing live readings to SoundCloud or Vocaroo? You would need to have or learn the tech savvie to record audio and enhance it using Audacity or something similar. Explaining/teaching members to do their own audio would also be a skill Chris and I would value. We help poets promote their work by posting these recordings to social media. It's also an invaluable feedback tool hearing your work in someone else's voice.
