Secret heart (1973)

Clouds of memories drifting by
Shadows of grief like ravens fly.
My secret heart is calling you
Crying out for a love that's true.

We spoke of love and warm desires
Two lost hearts fused by eternal fires.
Soon all my fears were turned to tears
My secret heart calls through the years.

When sunny days have turned to rain
And all that's left is dark, dull pain
I run from life and wish to die
We'll run together, you and I

Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Last few words:
I was about 17 when i wrote this, my first truly broken heart.

A beautifully crafted poem depicting once sweet love gone sour. Nice rhymes too. Thanks for sharing Joan Rolls.

I can equate with your loves memory, mind you I was a little older than 17 and the year was 1978, as you, they still walk with me in different guises, when a sadness overpowers, or a fleeting glimpse of someone, the memory returns, and the love is still there though the heart never broke, I just gained a companion for all those years and the love is as strong now as then.
A lovely write and another memory gained,
Take care, and know thee are many that walk with you,
Yours Ian..
PS:- our Jayne lives just up the road from you in Taree, but maybe it is quite a distance, there are many of our poets on the East coast of Australia, have a search and see who is nearest..
I think Jayne is Serendipity..

Very true Sparrow. Just typing that poem again brought those old emotions flooding back. Mind you, i ended up with that man and weve been together 40 years now.
I know jayne she lives about an hour away. We had mutual friends when i lived in taree before she even had children. Havent seen her for a few years now.
I have been very slack with my writing, need to find some quiet time again!

Jayne has not been very well for a few years now and is quite a worry to myself as there is nothing we can do being on this side of the world. Unlike you I couldn't stay with that one special person all those years ago I am so glad that you did.. My special person lives in Manila and another place in that region so it is hard to connect with them, but as we have been apart for over 39 years now it doesn't change things lol.
I have my own poetry site that is just for me to add to and that is yenti.co.uk you can pop in sometimes and read about my thoughts, one category is NST they are for the other person.
Jayne would love to see someone from those few years ago, anyway take care and will look out for your writings,
Yours Ian..
