Old Men

old men with dreams

what do they know that I don't
what do I know that they don't
doesn't matter
they are not going to tell me
neither will I tell them
we are old enough to know
to leave each other alone
.
.
old men with egos

you have yet to conquer anything
let alone yourself
and still think you've got the juice
and maybe you do
but try getting insurance
you can, if you pay through the nose
life experience has become irrelevent
you are a bad risk
how's that ego feel now
.
.
old men with a young wife

are you still keeping up
still running after her
still spending that money
there is a rainy day coming ya' know
even for you

my presumptive consolation "sorry for your loss"

An old man at a job interview. He is asked "what do you think are your faults?" The old man thinks about it and answers "I'm too honest". The young interviewer says "I don't think that's a fault ...". The old man answers "I don't give a damn what you think!"
I like your poem. But then again everyone now calls me "sir". What am I, a goddam knight? An old man with an ego!

I, too, am an old man with an ego, some remaining dreams, and even had a girlfriend for a few years who was 21 years younger than I was...so I guess I am entitled to speak on these matters!
what did I learn?...can't quite remember anymore ...so what, I'm as happy as any soon to be curmudgeon can be...really

thanks for stopping in

I resemble this poem
OOPS! I meant I resent it

I am not getting old, I AM old, but not as old as my old friends got...wow! did they get old, really old, ...wonder if they see me the same way

Love your style, we are all chasing
something, but what the hell do I
know, I'm old too.

thanks for posting!!

having a style is good. Having someone recognizing and liking it is better
so, thank you
yes, the chase goes on, but the pace of the prey seems to quicken

thanks again old man!

I see you have been reading my Grumble, I am so glad that we don't tell all those young ones what we know, let them damn well learn for themselves.
Surprised this comes from a curmudgeon, it is far to cool for one of us are you trying to be young again it don't work.
Years ago I use to figure out what I had done to make any part of me hurt, now what's the point it comes down to that age old thing AGE, lol'
Take care out there, damn need a bigger desk so that I can park my Zimmer frame when working at Neopoet.
Yours Ian..

yes, I have read your "Grumble" several times now
not too far off from some of my "senior problems"

I don't ever want to be young and dumb again
if I could have the young without the dumb part, I might consider it, but I don't think the two can be separated

lest we forget, the young have their problems too, poor little things.
thanks for the visit, Ian
