Bare Bear... [For Poets first poems]

There was a bear that bore no hair
So not much of a bear or was he?
After all, he was a bare bear
and so twice the bear
as a bear that's fuzzy

Style / type:
Structured: Western
Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Last few words:
Just a little limerick to tell my kids and the children I used to baby-sit. They always liked the poem about the bare bear! ~ Gee. .

I have just added you to the workshop, so you can include this in the poets first poems.
It's not like the contests, you have to select the workshop option at the bottom of the page before you publish.
Very cute little poem!

Agree with Jane. V cute!

Although a no haired bear
Whatever form
Would scare the pants off me

Yeah, a bare bear would probably scare a lot of people. They don't scare me, but I am repulsed by those hairless dogs and cats! Just kinda creepy, if you know what I mean? ~ Gee.

A book of these is called for. Although, I know I couldn't do it once much less make a collection of them, but the world needs a series of poems like this.
This is an early poem? It demonstrates then the frivolity I sometimes see in your poetry.

I would love to hear it, and not just in your poetry.

my sense of humor from both sides of my parentage. My mother is mostly French and Native American and where I get the flippant part and my father was English, Dutch/Irish, N.A. and where the dry wit comes in. I love a good joke and play of words and an occasional practical joke like my mom! ~ Gee.

I like this! It is similar to the poem I heard as a kid:

Fuzzy Wuzzy

Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear
Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair
Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't very fuzzy, was he?

I like yours better!

Do you know one thing I love?
The commonality between so many of us, even though we are 1000s of miles apart. And this little poem is something I grew up with in the UK too.
Poetry is good.

I think that the "Fuzzy Wuzzy" poem was my inspiration for the "Bare Bear" I'm glad that you like it better, because if I remember right, it was my intention to make one better than "Fuzzy Wuzzy". I think that I was about sixteen when I wrote it. I don't think that it was the first poem I ever wrote, but it is the first one that I can remember in it's entirety. Thanks, ~ Gee.

and tried to piss them off by talking as if to adults. Turns out they love that.

I hate kids and their commotions
and dumped on them quite adult notions
the little buggers thought me cool
(collectively they're not a fool)
their answers gave my thoughts new motions.

I am of course referring to my own nieces and nephews who are unusually gifted and beautiful in every way,
