Winter's friend (Sorry i did not answer sooner, computor crashed)

The lonely empty winter streets
Of snow covered concrete
Not a single sound is heard
But the peoples quiet retreat.
As the light of day
Makes its final escape

The warmth of spring
Seem so far away
Not even the songs
Of the mockingbirds
Can stop the cold from bringing
Winters sting upon the skin

The desolate blanket
Which covers the white landscape
Sparkles under vapor lights
That stands erect
On every city street
A beauty that few do see

Here in the quiet, late at night
While the city is snuggled
And fast asleep
In my winter garb I stand
On the silent street, enjoying
This moment of winter’s peace.

No sounds are heard
Not a car appears
Just me in winter's embrace,
Whispering:
"You are my only friend
In the solitude of my brain"

I answer,
"Yes, indeed, my winter friend."

I started laughing when I looked athe titles typo. thanks buddy for the eagle eye. exactly a gentle quiet loneliness, which I truly love about winter.
Winter can be soft and inviting by yourself or with just a friend. not always with a crowd.

I did ride a horse in the winter when I lived In Pa. in the early 70's. it's a wonderful ride with the cold upon your cheeks.Think positive thoughts and it just might happen for you.

This is such a brilliant piece!

I haven't encountered any kind of winter yet you took me on a fine visual and wintry cold experience!

It would be a toss up as to whether winter or summer are my favorite seasons. This poem rivals the best I've read on winter and may inspire me write one on winter in an urban setting myself lol. I read the 4th stanza 4 times and reveled in it each time. Now to drop the other shoe lol :
L-3 maybe change but to save
L-7 saveS
L-16 stand ( no S)
L-18 might delete "do"

as usual, feel free to use or not , except typos lol...............scribbler

thanks for the correction and your eagle eye.
it's always a pleasure my friend.

Really really nice, Eddie!

Just some minor punctuation and small tweaks I would make such as:

No sounds are heard
Not a car appears
Just me in winter's embrace,
Whispering:
"You are my only friend
In the solitude of my brain"

I answer,
"Yes, indeed, my winter friend."

Love,
Anna

Thanks, I made the changes you suggested. thank you for the careful read.
"Muchas Gracias"

I really enjoyed reading this poem Eddie, the imagery and use of words is wonderful.

It is five thirty in the morning here and everything is totally silent and peaceful - there is a clarity and beauty about nightime, especially in the winter.

Thanks for sharing

I have a love/hate relationship going on with winter. Your piece strengthens the "love." I love to sit by my fireplace and watch out my window as big fluffy flakes come floating down. A cup of hot cocoa goes well with this scene, too. I especially liked:

Here in the quiet, late at night
While the city is snuggled
And fast asleep
In my winter garb I stand
On the silent street, enjoying
This moment of winter’s peace.

I found nothing that I would change and have no suggestions for you.

always, Cat
