Disparity...

I saw millions of lives were lost
From religious fever and lies
The world stood by and watched

I saw a fellow human being
He was troubled by disaster
I picked him up and comforted him

I've heard the shouts of truth
Yet as a species, we have not listened
Too many tongues, not enough ears

Love your neighbor, give him hope
Treat him as your brother
Hear his complaints

Show compassion
Feed his body
Free his mind

A feeling of being helpless is the state of the majority of mankind.
Like a nomadic race we move without positive direction across the Earth sometimes we wander for one hundred years.
There in our wandering we read, write talk of many things, the religions of greed and control take us and smash us down.
Religion should start again with a new name, one that gives hope to the billions that wander.
The churches have in their own being, have destroyed themselves, gold embellished buildings, just down the road from a starving child.
This is the extreme of human sickness, I have no answer to this, from the time of the golden calf of some religion, and all the killing that has taken part or takes part,
in the name of something not seen but so severe gives people a fearful time.
Your write touched the edge of a corrupt world and was to me a little withdrawn from what you really feel??
Take care out there and know we are thinking of you, Yours Ian (plus)

enough at the things you mention. There are as you say, millions of people starving as the heads of religious orders live in splendor and as many of the world politicians sit down to dinners that cost hundreds of dollars. There are people trying to comfort their children who have nothing to eat and yet the politicians and dictators of the world want to take more away from the poor so that they may build armies and show their power. Trump says he will not take a salary for his years in office and tries to look like a humanitarian. Like he's doing the job for the little man. HUH! He's already shown his true colors. he is just as guilty of greed as any of the rest! I could fill this whole page with the rottenness of the world and I still wouldn't get to the end of what bothers me. ~ Gee.

Never despair, rise up and argue against it as your poem does. I have always argued against mans belief that he alone can see this god. I don't believe in gods or religion ( it's just another form of politics ) but even if I did why did god make man his only voice on the planet. He couldn't have picked a more horrible murdering animal than man in my view. Great subject well presented poem. Regards Roscoe...

Roscoe Llane,

Religion will rip your faith off, and return
for the mask of disbelief that's left.

I am not sure of an extreme being or god. However, I do believe that there is a thread that runs through the universe and includes us all. I am of the opinion that we have been contacted by extra-terrestrials who have tried to guide us by telling us how to behave in simple terms. Like we would tell headhunters not to kill their neighbors and shrink their heads. A golden rule, as such. The story gets more involved of course, but you see what I mean? If you haven't, read my poem Goddamn!
A simplified version of the fall of man told in vernacular that the man of our day might understand.

and for a supernatural being, is and was to assure mankind of an ever-watching, all seeing, omnipotent, god. They didn't trust us to stay the course and behave ourselves without one. The promise of Heaven to reward a life lived according to the rules, not enough! The knew that we were sneaky and would think that; "Hey, if no-one is watching, how will they know if I screw up or slack off?" Thank you for your read and comment. ~ Gee.
