kwansaba for MEWilson

I do need to drug my life
Pain about my people's attacks on others
My respect for those people, their beauty
I praise them, their power, their culture
my people did enslave, kill, repress,
yet never did destroy them, their joy.
I drug my life, yet love, help.

Last few words:
http://popularpoetryforms.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/kwansaba.html Kwansaba is an African American verse form of praise. The Kwansaba, (swahili kwan - first fruit / saba -principle) was created in 1995 by Eugene B Redmond, East St. Louis Poet Laureate and professor of English at Southern Illinois University-East St. Louis. The form was developed in honor of the celebration of Kwanzaa . The poetic form adopts the number 7 from Kwanzaa's Nguzo Saba (7 principles) as well as embraces its roots in the South African tradition of the Praise Poem. Esker, I needed a cause.

this is a brave piece, to say the least! It takes alot of balls to put yourself out there like that! and thank you for providing some information on the style. I really appreciate that. sorry for my short response...I'm slowly getting back in the grove of using this site. I posted my first poem (since I've been back, yesterday)

I would appreciate just a terse "this doesn't work try that" to a long critique any time, most especially in that it provides you more time for other poet's works.
Much love, and I can't say how much it is great to see you here again, Styx is always at my right elbow, reminding me that amongst many alone, we are not alone.

I sometimes run into Lonnie there.
It's just no organised chats are happening.
All of Neopoet goes through its ups and downs, no doubt someone will get enthused about running chat again.
Not me. Apart from my other Neopoet roles you know chat is where I always get in trouble running my mouth off [grins]

Thank U Elf!
its hard to be upfront of the human
condition and hard to change
but the brave are the bold
and rewards of such a risk
are much!

So great to see your insight
and a poem from your talented
mind

Mr Esker!
