It's me (A rictameter)
it's me,
it is just me,
the meek, humble servant
knocking hard on Your door my God.
To You and You only I always pray,
You listen, and You understand
even what I won't say,
so please answer,
it's me.

raj
you must have some understanding of what it is that you don't understand so
use that understanding to GOOGLE IT!
i.e. what's a rictameter
what's a triolet
experience instantaneous understanding for anything you want to know
excuse my terseness, ....but

Hi Rula
A very interesting form. It seemed to give more power to the idea you expressed (which was powerful in its own right)
I have already tried one of my own after seeing this
maybe I'll post it.... yours is much better though

Thank you gentlemen
for your kind visit.
Dear raj, this is a nine-lines form. It starts with 2 syllables and ends with the same two syllables, then 4,6,8,10 then 8,6,4,2 to form the diamond shape. Hope that helps.
Al, I'd very much like to read yours indeed.

Rula
may I ask what software you used to format this piece.
Neopoet's program doesn't allow for "shaping".
I'm not sure even Googling would help me without a hint
thanks ( if its not too much of a bother) No rush

thanks Raj
I tried it and "voila" it worked!
I should have fiddled with the advanced setting a little more when I first tried it many moons ago. When it didn't do what I wanted.I too quickly assumed it couldn't
Turns out the program is WAY smarter than me.
thanks again for the help

It is not enough
to choose the advanced format. Sometimes it depends on your browser. After choosing the advanced formatting, you must copy the text as you've typed in "Microsoft Word" and have it centered there. At the top of the text box of the advanced format, you can see few icons , choose the yellow file with the "W" on it. If you point on it with the cursor it says paste from Word.
Paste the text you want (in this case it is the Rictameter) and press on Ok, and there you go.
Hope that helps.
Let me know if you need any help.

Hi Rula
I liked the edits you made. It is not just a Rictameter, it is a very humble, honest and a strong prayer...
Why can I not an icon for a clap here? :(

Rictameters are
to my mind usually a waste of time and effort, as indeed are most of these strict forms. On the positive side they do give occasion for experimentation which helps with personal growth. The litmus test must be, does it work as a poem without drawing undue attention to the form? In your case you have achieved that rare success. Having criticised the form so strongly it behoves me to make some form of effort myself...
Beauty
is in the eye
of he wishing to see
the difference that he can make,
when life itself explodes and goes agley.
Can we but make that difference
so all the world can see,
start and end is
beauty.
OK, it's not very good but that, as I said, is almost inevitable.
Feel free to have a laugh.
To quote Lizzy Bennet (Pride and Prejudice)
I dearly love to laugh.

Thank you Mr. Logan
For the compliment.
The strict forms might sometimes be a headache, but I like to write some from time to time just for fun and what I like about the rictameter is that it isn't too strict in meter if compared with other forms like the sonnet.
You honered the form with your attempt and the subtle message that it conveys.
Thank you again.
