Whispers in the Dark...

The night so dark,
like the maw of nothing
I stare into it and shudder
Blood running cold
Feel my veins turn to ice

I hear it coming and can't run
Fascinated with doom
Frozen to the spot
I must see what haunts me
Is it real?

Not so far away now
Closer with each passing year
No more the twelve year old
Immortal
And forever

Snuffling
Scratching at my door-post
Leaving it's scent
Rubbing against my ankles
Waiting to pounce

The elders wise
Whisper to the young
Knowing that they hear
Shouting answers
Drown them out

Lessons learned
In the dark
Bolting the doors
Against reality
Doesn't work

I still have nightmares
cried out they said in my sleep yelling
at the house...three am..
time I used to sleepwalk as a kid

some see things..others feel
gifts...portents..
I just pretend
best no one knows
anything
but I know
I feel

everything!

thank U !

(I relate to this well)

anyone would relate to this one, it would be you. We know that it is out there. Just not sure what it is that scares us so. I guess that it is the unknown. The things that go bump in the night, the pieces of us that don't quite fit. Scary shit that can get you when you aren't looking! Thanks, ~ Gee.

I had a strange intelligence..still have it....and intuition......the gift..the seer..they give me
things to handle...the unkown..keeps us on our edge...lets us know we are alive....never
bored...never boring!

In the days that come I will be a shadow, but you, my friend, will be a shining star,

Richard for Joe

much came from those gone ahead...
some never got from their addiction and ghosts
others gone in crashes
too early
others the life and roll that life gives...
could have been me
but the shine along the way from others
helps fuel the belief
the strength
the "essence" I have found
and tap into it
grateful and share it now
like a hand up

thank U Joe
and Richard!

what lies on the other side, for I have put up a veil. Trust me...
I am grateful for the hand up. It furthers my faith in the goodness of the universe. ~ Gee

I live now in the light
one cannot expect to even as an explorer
last in that landscape without
coming back with something
a spiritual residue
I am changing much in my life
and re hooking up to the belief system
no more the idleness
or less of it
and for this I am grateful
the "veil" is a meaningful
tool
thank U

I can feel the inevitability of that awful recurring nightmare.
Great atmosphere and tension.
Good metre too - it reinforces fear.

as you have reasoned; a nightmare that we all have on occasion. I find that meter does have an effect on the work. ~ Gee.

i lived a lot sitting my friends places
minding pets
I like the words bolting against
reality the doors
aldous huxley and morrison
mine were gone a long time
ago
the old expression the wind
blows in and the wind blows
out
why I like the worlds
of forgotten and blighted
we had enough
but at times the great
wasteland of the
interior is something
as in Interior of a place
vast and unending

thank U
