The playground our children’s joy,
Destroyed by the savages of fire
Children ran losing their hats
The fire had disturbed mice, an rats.

The firemen came showing no fear
Throwing their water everywhere.
There in the morning sun it was fun
A stark reminder of what I had done.

I put my matches in my pocket
Then home I did run. "Mummy!"
