Lantern

It took death
To bless the endless deserts of my life
With rain of hope enough
To green despair
Back into emerald forests of care

This is short, but the length of this poem adds to the powerful impact that your words bring. Perfect synergism of form and content.

Thanks for the comment.

This is a little shorter than what I usually post - which, truthfully hasn't really been anything in a year - but when I started thinking about adding to it, I thought, why should I? It has the impact that I want already.

Glad you like it.

Wish I could write with such brevity. My stuff seems to run on and on and on and on......lol. Brevity aside you might consider adding "the" right after To in line 4. It clarifies meaning a bit........stan

Long time no see!

I used 'green' as a verb on line 4, so using 'the' would change the meaning considerably, and I think I'll leave it as is.

Glad you enjoyed this!

propogation wave of survival........
succintly said here...
I created a life...my daughter during one of the most
harshest times of my then youthful times
at late forties i helped raise a teen
with old values in a newfound freedom
of soceity that reflected my parents
dislike of the hippie culture
and equal hatred of the nature of vietnam
I was raised on hate
Love was not a bloom
and the stars which brought me relief
were cold
and distant
but there were moments
of warmth
the emotional fire we
all seek exists
.....

thank U

I forgot that even your replies are pure poetry!

Good stuff, thanks again,

if I can't have fifty lines I can't start. Spooky poem really when you think about it.

Glad you found my little effort interesting!
I know what you mean about length - I have a few that are lengthy, to say the least.

I don't know about you, but pretty much everything I write comes from past experience, good, or bad. I guess its about making lemonade when life hands you lemons. God knows I have a basket full.
I like "Lantern". A lot. It seems to fit. Thanks.

I read about that kid eating his pancakes in the street. He did it as a prank.
With typical American adherence to The Law (read that as 'using law to screw people') the police tracked him down, and arrested him for 'obstruction of a roadway'.

my present computer tower is combo of parts
i was using the even older slower tower
my tech chum called it the 'magic lantern'
which was Ewi Yost? television program
he studied film and movies..
cbc..forget....been through my own
self made tradgedies and the almost
with my girls getting sick and just
making it to the hospital
would have died...
and me..hospital tried to OD me
ha..long story...

then I see your gif of vanghof
flowers....on another play site
i got this re paint by someone
of the painting he did of his room

i remember the old red head woman
who would have been very pretty
as a pre teen at the art shop in
holland...she served him
said all he wanted to talk about
was color and paints
..u could tell she was all music
and passion

why did he like the hookers
same reason i like em
they come into your life,
room....no judging.
see u for what you truly
are and work with it
I sit in my mall and like Van Gogh
sit like he did
what artist went with him to tahiti
or in paris sketched him in a dance
hall....arms on table...head bent
forward...very agressive
I relate to Van Gogh well
Vincent...his name comes up
in my fiction poetry work
Theo...I read that book
People say....I would have been
Vincents friend etc.....well my
friends who mean well.
I am bi polar etc...
and I have known people
out there
their lives are literal
they literally feel their feelings
they are brilliant and damaged
been trying to think why the ear
many send fingers...
but think of shakespeare
friends romans lend me your ear
he was self absorbed
all about art
no Andrew Wyeth painting Helga
no dark Dr Suess sketches
my fave.....
I helped raise other peoples kids
not an easy job
probably told him....ur not listening to
me...so he sends his ear
as a representation..
presenting...
psychological
u either live in your ego
or you are your ego
could write a thesis on this
..

bottom line is...dude could paint
if we zapped him from then to now
and he lived on our couches
he would be focused on tubes of paint
brushes...drive you nuts
but...fact that we love him and his
work was something he didnt quiet
get to appreciate

four years ....wow....hey..we survived
anyone left talking and standing
is here for a reason

and yes...you are not alone
there are many here
like U

forest of light and hope
damn right

forest onward wolf pack....
