THE PRAYER OF MY EVERY DAY.

THE PRAYER OF MY EVERY DAY.

In life, everything eventually has its end.

Waiting on the inevitable
To drop a hand full of soil
On my dear mothers grave,
When it happens
I feel somewhere deep
It will also be the end of me

Please let life
Continue to flow
Through her veins
The thought of her
Being encased in a lifeless grave
Takes some of my life away

Give me the strength
To accept
That one day
She will not be on this earth
I am but a weak man
When I think,
I will be separated from the woman
I call Mom

All that I am
All the future dreams that I see
Are the product
Of the proper start she gave to me
All of these things
Are the fabric of the tapestry
Which I call my life
Picture’s upon pictures
Which she carefully sewed in

Mom
Every moment I have left with you
I will save and cherish
For all my eternities
All that I hope
Is that I can give them
To those which follow me
So they will know
That your spirit forever
Walks with me.

Last few words:
looking at my Mom sitting there looking so frail, waiting on midnight to come with just me. I couldn't help but write this. I cried the whole time I was writing, it's amazing how somethings just weaken me. I guess, I'm getting old myself.

This is an inevitable truth of life that we all dread but know we all must face some day.
The only thing one can hope for, is that they go peacefully, and without pain or regret, or loss of dignity, and knowing that they were loved, that their lives had meaning and that they made a difference to their children's lives.

I was moved by your sentiment.

thank you!

that is the point we should not wait to truly live when something tragic happens.
my Mom is here now, and i have always lived in the moment or the now, but I have not share everything with her. I now realize that our parents live through us. they feel every up and down in our life. just as I feel my own childrens lives. So i will share every moment with her until she is no more. then I will have stored up enough memories to keep her alive in me!
thanks Joe, and sorry about your loss

I was just talking to my brother about the funeral of our mother last January on a cold, windy and wintery day. I think in your poem you anticipate accurately some of the feelings, and thoughts that cross through one’s mind about losing a parent, especially a mother. I did notice one word you might want to change in the second line of the third verse (accept instead of except).

vexations

thank you so much for the eagle eye read. I have made the correction.
thank you for your heart felt comment!

I lost my mother a few years ago. I think she was ready to go join dad and her friends who had left before her.I guess this is as should be, for who would want to continue on in bad health with all contemporaries already gone. I hope when your mother's time come it is peaceful.................scribbler

thank you my friend for the read, it is a tough subject.

you have a way of making me feel like a little child of seven yrs old. embarrassed because he was told he was
hansome.(just an explanation of the feeling) and I like it.
I know that if you do have a child, that child will love you as i love my Mom. Only because you deserve it!

I just read this again. Even for any who don't believe there is something after death( of which I'm not one ), as long as a person is remembered they will never be truly gone..............stan

That is the whole point of this write, for I also do not believe in an after life. So you have nailed it on the head my friend. In our memories is where they live on.
Thanks Stan for the return trip, I going to have to give you flyer miles. Hahaha!

it;s one of theose things that will happen regardless
so we must just love and make the most of the days we have been given (the 'present' of time and others' company).... my mum has left this coil, but i still feel her around... we are never really separated...

a beautiful tribute to her
