Parts of a poem

There are basically only four parts to a poem. There's the title which lures folks to read the poem. There's the beginning which hooks people into continuing. There's the main body which delivers the bulk of what the writer wishes to convey. Then there's the ending which leaves the reader with a final impression of the poem.

I reckon almost everybody here knows what they want to convey and how to do so. But I know that I'm often weak in the Title, Introduction and Ending of poems and these are all likely to be the parts of a poem most remembered by a reader. And if a reader doesn't even remember the title it will be pretty tough for them to go back to the poem later.

"If one wishes to learn a thing, teach that thing" ........Hence I'll be running a three part series of fairly short and very easy shops on titles, beginnings and endings in poetry. As would be expected the first one will deal with titles. So keep your eyes peeled (Man, that will hurt lol) for the official announcement and syllabus of the title workshop which will likely appear the first half of April...........stan
