Breathing deep
the drinking hard
he's forgotten all
about the card

light under the door
throbbing and angry
its against him
against him
how he tries
they just dont care

His rage wells
and he thrusts
down the handle
and falling shoves
his way in
the words roaring

in her hands the
the glue the glitter
she nicks her
This mess he curses
his narrowed
the fumes
against the
in the room

He collapses in
his chair
spinning down

waking cheerful
shes left
cleared the house
His wife cuts him
down with a look
sears him in silence
the snub

on the table is a card
smudged in blood
"Happy Valentines..
Daddy I love you"

So well written, as usual
It's a different theme from you - I haven't read anything in this vein from you before...
Powerful anyway
Thank you Steve

'Each for the joy of the working, and each, in his separate star,
shall draw the Thing as he sees It, for the God of Things as They are.'
(Rudyard Kipling)

I'm guessing he felt guilty, softened and smiled when he saw the valentines card. You paint a word picture with skill and great effect. I think parents will easily relate to this one.

Very well done. :) xxx
