DAWN on WALLSTREET

On a top floor balcony I sit
in our great east coast city
as the night fades into day
among concrete business monoliths

The last few visible stars fade
into skies turning slowly black to gray
all silent save a lone street cleaner
slowly chugging down empty streets

Sun still drowned by tattered ocean
although under lighting horse tail cirrus clouds
with a soft saffron glow
alongside cris-crossed contrails

A silent high formation of geese fly over
toward distant feeding grounds
as first of day's pigeons appear
( from where ? )

First rays of sun reflect
off upper glass towers
like frozen strobe lights
hurling bright spears

A peregrine falcon circles above
seeking a squab meal
while screeching a challenge to the new day

Orange sun leaps free of the brine
sending geometric shadows
among the canyons of finance
and irridesence to oiled pavements

The distant rattle of elevated trains
arriving filled with drones
first taxi appears
first limo
first stray cat

Sky now an intense blue
with white gull flakes
distant irate horns
low subway murmurs
a puff of wind lofting a plastic bag
signaling the end of dawn
and the start of another day

of greed

As Shirley is no longer here we shall have to sort this one out to be good enough for your book ??
Nature coming into the Wall Streets of today, a good theme, maybe there is room for a little good/ bad business just to verify the places real use, that obviously the creatures around never bother with,

So find more reasons to believe in others..

Ant book by me will be delayed a good while as having had to absorb the cost of a new comp has depleted disposable income lol. Appreciate your visit......stan
