Lonely poems

One comment is not enough to give a rounded response to a poem, how about we re-name "undiscovered poems" to "lonely poems" and make the criteria for inclusion on the list less than 2 comments.

A good Idea there.
But that would be handy for me as then I would be able to find my works easily, lol.
Seriously though, I troll the un commented place quite a lot, then come across the poets that just ignore what you have to say, there are too many of us that don't comment and it has been this way for a while.

I preferred the time when number of reads was registered on the right side, it gave more of a view as to how the poem was received.
I would though be interested in knowing how many members we have at Neopoet, then I think we should run other things like competitions, and the process for publishing a book.
There is a need for some sort of incentive to do more and the need for more Ideas to be sorted out.

Yes, there is a lot we could be doing to bring Neopoet culture up to the level it could be and has been before.

Let's start with getting this simple change put in place. Sure the Lonely List would suddenly expand dramatically, all the better to keep us on our toes,

Good to see you in there for Neopoet as you always have been.
You are right we have to start somewhere and the lonely list would be a great start, I hope others will come in, so that we can sort this out.
Send me a Pm sometime to let me know how you progress..
Yours as always Ian.T

I like the idea, although I don't think the name has to be changed. I understand the reason why 2 was selected, but if a person critiques and the poet responds will that preclude it from the list? It has me thinking that I may want to start an ongoing workshop where all participants agree to critique each poem posted. Only one poem per poet per week. Max 6 (adjustable) per group (but there could be multiple groups) so that it does not become cumbersome to participate. This ensures each critique is reciprocated. Moderators would make sure that participants are 1) providing a critique for each poem and 2) that it is indeed critique and not comment. as I type this, it occurs to me that it would be wonderful for our mentors to head up such groups. I think this would maintain a certain level of quality and integrity. Still thinking on the keyboard, there could be different levels (i.e. wading pool, shark tank, Olympic pool, etc.)

I am just spewing at this point so I shall digress.

I hadn't considered the poets own replies. Raising the criteria to 2 is going to blow out the list for starters. Let's do that and then when it is a manageable length again raise it to three, so that the whole thing doesn't become overwhelming.

I would love to have you run a workshop, and this sounds like a good one. Send me a syllabus by PM and I'll add you to the team and we can go from there.

Good idea. I also think a member should have to comment on a set number of poems before being allowed to post a poem of their own. I have no idea how hard this would be to institute as far as tech aspects are concerned but this might also help on the undiscovered poems list....................stan

Why not bring this up again, Stan, as a new suggestion, after we get the Lonely Poems changed

I had said earlier
comment on one

all scoffed at me

why have a limit
why curb creativity
I wonder still

this is a school of thinker poets

I've found around

you may include

poet in me
if you wish to
one call me

and I assure you they do, even if they don't agree, perhaps part of the problem is your obscure style. If you wrote suggestions in plain english they would probably attract more notice. This last comment appears to contain a self-contradiction-
"comment on one
post one " (which is a bit extreme)
and
"why have a limit
why curb creativity"

Your idea certainly has my vote Jess and it
appears to be generating other good ideas as
well.

No opposing thoughts at all.

Andrew, is this a difficult thing to do technically? Considering also a possible 2 stage approach where we first raise the criteria to 2 comments and then later to 3 to avoid overwhelm.

Jess
