Rocking Chair Reckoning

sitting gallantly in my rocking chair
gazing at hazy leftover scenes
I seek a thread,
a stitch,
a connection
binding and defining the whole.

I find nothing

but a slapdash circus of thrilling randomness:

non-sequiturs and cliff-hangers
dropped, one after the other,
into a roiling mess of "WTF?"

I am, it seems,
immune to the standard terrors
of chaotic change
so, with nary a druther
I conclude:

it has been grand
...touring life on the "No plan" plan.

good to see you. I haven't been around here much, so I don't know how much you have been writing, but I always like to read your stuff when I see it. I like the way that you are sparing with words, yet always get the message across. I never had much of a plan until I noticed my mortality. [ I still don't have much of a plan, but I do often think about what I might leave behind. I just hope that I have touched a lot of people's lives in positive ways. Anyways, even to recognize that you have had enough life experiences to make it all worth-while, is an accomplishment of no little means. ~ Gee

This must be the place, 'cause there ain't no place like this place anywhere near this place.

I've just recently reappeared on the site after five or so months.
Looking at my past works list with dates, it seems a pattern has been established
...here for awhile, gone for awhile...but I always return!

I've never understood planners: 5 yr plans, lifetime plans, funeral plans etc.
I don't know what's going to happen 5 minutes from now!
Murphy's law has trumped all my best efforts at organizing my life into "normal"

glad you like some of my stuff .

thanks,

Al

southern west state coastline shop online..
the patch had some stars
and this
"If you dont follow a map
then you can never be lost"

it was very witty I thought...I have no money
or paypal or creditcard etc...but I would
and may paint that eventually on a homemade
patch that I will sew on my daypack canvasse

maybe not the correct words but you know
the thinking......it was just a slant on it that
I never had completely thought...
its even harder to live like that..
or this if Im doing similar No plan Plan
which I love...

I love comedy which is hard to tell
from the poetic writings
and I love the dour bitterness and
true words that people write..
poems
Like You!

And I have a red nametag
white beneath where they use
the machine to carve out the
letters with a dremel
the pin to put through your
shirt...jacket...
only Mine...(Okay my Lori got
it made by her friend for me to
read when she got pissed at
me...)
but I wear it now

It simply says FUCK OFF
and I covered the first part
with fibre electrical tape
that I found at a yard sale
authentic saying and
authentic old time tape
for an authentic old fart
like myself!!

Thank you!

I don't know what impression you, and others, have of my chronological age
but most of you are still veritable young'un/s compared to this ancient old fart! (!-30-45)
I think knowing the eras a writer has lived through might enlighten the perspective that the reader takes.........

having lived, and played music pre-beatles (and beyond)
the cold war
hippiness
vietnam's debacle
women's lib
the fall of the wall

these things don't make me a better writer, but can effect a view point

thanks for your reflections

This reminds me of the movie "Beyond Thunderdome". When Gibson was escaping and he asked his accomplice what the plan was and was told"Plan//... Got no plan" lol. Often it appears that the planners do no better than the ones who fly by the seat of their pants..........stan

I've not seen the movie... but the thought (idea) is striking in some way...you remembered it!

most plan. those that don't still need to fill in the blank with something ...hence
the "NO PLAN plan
If most played golf, we would probably have a term for those that didn't ....agolfist!?

anyway....
thanks for stopping by,
