After All...

There is nothing after here and now
Who says there is, is wrong
There cannot be; you must see
No here-after, when you're gone

But, what if ?
There is a god ?
Some great divinity
Suppose there is...
A place like heaven
Made for you and me

What would it be, this place of ours?
A state of bliss; angel's kiss?
Hot babes and hotter cars?

Could you live in mine?
Have me in yours?
Mine's full of dogs... that's me
I'll bet that yours has great big waves
Blue-skies and sun-kissed sea

Forever; that must be boring
With earthly pleasures, yes!
I think that there must be much more
Behind the here-after door

Though they may profess
No one can know
What the plan is after this
I think you'll find whatever it is
It's not just an angel kiss

Maybe we have a greater purpose
Something we can't see from here
Things we can't imagine
Things that the gods hold dear

I can't believe this is all for nothing
Must be a training ground
We keep at it here, keep coming back
Karma brings us around

But if there is nothing... not a thing or place
You'll live on in my mind
I'll see your face
Remember memories you left behind

As you know I have many hours of talking to Sadie recorded on Audio Tapes.
She taught me many things and her teachers asked me to write of their ways, it is hard to write of such things.
Now here you are with the big question, of what's coming after.
What can I say, except that I hope Sadie would help me to reply, so here goes just a touch of others .
You cannot learn the physical side of things in spirit.
They never need to eat or ever need the things we have.
There in the infinite peace, things are sorted into their own levels, the bad are heavier and sink to like spirits.
You are to judge yourself when you return, for all the ways you have on this plain.
You are here to learn of the ways of a physical being, and all the feelings that go with it.
You choose what you need to learn before you arrive here, this is to enhance your Spirit as it strives for perfection.
That will do for tonight it is 00-18 BST 27-8-2014.
Your write was so full of questions that will remain unanswered until you have to return then all things will be clear.
Gee this is the next day and near 24 hrs later, as Leanne Rimes sings in my ears, I wonder what and where we are in the scheme of things, I had to smile as a long time ago a friend would say " We are all part of a large plastic mug floating some place" if so I wonder who drinks from us lol..
Yours as always Ian.T

There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

I really like the way you have got your message across here Geezer.
For me, an excellent way of writing a thought provoking poem. Well done mate!
Tim

I hoped to get the message across in a way that wouldn't offend anyone, but provoke some thought about a controversial subject. I don't think that there is anyone who can say with absolute conviction, that there is nothing after this life; any more that I can say that there is. I tried to keep the rhythm and pace not with meter, but with the natural rhythm of speaking. I know that it needs some work here and there.
Thanks for the read and comment, ~ Geezer

I know for sure that there's something afterlife
But then, only what I believe as a Muslim.
It is well proved in the Qura'an.

The line with "hotter cars" seems like coming with some forced near rhyme, perhaps something like [ endless hours] would be a good alternative? Just a thought.

Another thought provoking piece I read today Geezer.
Thank you

yes. I was thinking of a friend of mine who once said that his heaven would be full of hot babes and hot cars. I don't think that hours and cars are that far apart! ~ Gee

we liked the gold paved streets and cadillacs in our youth
then it seemed the wealthier religion of america worked hard to
drive the new cars.....they did not have the bondo buggies
with no exhaust......no rat rods.....
we say america but we had them in canada too....

churchs were tax exempt from the state...
social order dictated then even politicians
believe in something....you give to that
as long as you paid taxes
and all had the clout then to do so..

but then along came heaven for some here
on earth...
sunday shopping tax free cigarettes
and the usual always there bootlegger
whom got his cut or her..but was open
on sunday and the dealer

this poem is very well written
i like the rhyme
the inoffence

the agressive policies of taking over
was well known of the church and
the social order of its day
otherwise the crown court system
would not have paid off the victims
here...

strange to belong....
to be done wrong
and yet still believe
in something...

:black robe: is an excellent canadian
film...about cultural clash here years
ago.....its poetic...cinematic..

babes and hot cars..
ha...they always threw in that
virgins and plentiful things

the afterlife preparation

lately i was too a few funerals
which i avoid
some of the members going were
personal people i loved
but so many battles here

nothing like being in the trenches
of life and having to battle with
your people...
but thats life...

im not resigned to nothing
im not going to say there is not
this or that

i like the concept of trying to do good here..
when i was hitchking with sunglasses..
the beard...lesser then attire i always
got picked up by christian people
and the karma believers
although i was waiting for the not so good
people also..

its all about the real estate though
and we all have books or codes
or something we make up
to repair the past of which
we have done
or has been done against
us

or something that is a belief
worthy cause to strive towards
why else would the wealthy
fight for an ideal
now its substance
a hill...

magic.....somehow it gets in there..
the thinking
joan of arc was said to have a sword
from god...its metal made from a stone
from heaven..etc...

whom knows..

i believe that things have spirits
essences attatched to them
land included

i like the karma idea
that its not a worthless cause..
so this poem was a good read
for me today

ryhme makes sense
and punctuation
for me

thank you

oh almost forgot.....i love lowriders lately
so heaven would be my lowrider with fresh blacktop
and of course the muse or whatever
decent sound system anyway
and a tune exhaust..

ha..we are funny us poets..
sometimes...

funny, sometimes... I guess the point that I tried to get across; was that whatever we might think Heaven is, or is about, it's probably much different than we think. I remember an old episode of the Twilight Zone, where a man died and went to Heaven and the person at the gate told the man that his dog couldn't come in. The man said; "Well, I guess that I won't come in either then! His dog and him kept walking down the dirt-road and there was a person that said "You and your dog look tired and thirsty." He said; "Well, we are." then the person asked about where they were going and the man told him that he couldn't bring his dog in that Heaven down the road. They were invited to stay in this man's place and they were both welcome! The old man said; Now, this is Heaven! Thanks for the read and comment, ~ Gee

My folks back in the day....
i like this heaven!

thanks

it must be heaven and we must have been very good to get here. So we can be as naughty as we like now.
I love other people's mythologies, except the nasty Abrahamic traditions- like Christianity, Islam and Judaism. They can be very amusing but very nasty. I don't like transmigration much either, one life on this Earth is quite enough, thank you. The pantheons have some ripping yarns.
One way to look at it is that if there are about as many atoms in the human body as there are stars in the Milky Way, and about as many glaxies as that, we could all be part of one big organism. I wonder what we do for fun. Probably, like people, make other baby universes.

At age 12 I was a born again Christian, 13 a born again Atheist, got into mysticism and magic for a while, then forward to Intolerant Atheism. So in terms of content I like the first stanza best, which makes the last one irrelevant. Although it does remind me of the wonderful Nick Cave song "Into My Arms"
http://www.metrolyrics.com/into-my-arms-lyrics-nick-cave.html

Poetically you have sacrificed poetic originality for content, it's all a bit prosaic, even cliched.

another cliché is; " You can't please everyone all the time, but some of the people some of the time. Yes, I get it; if there is no hereafter, then you won't care if you are remembered, because you won't know. It will be as if you never were. As Mulder would say: " I want to believe ". I want to believe that it all means something and I'm not forgotten as if I never was. Thanks for the read and comment anyways, ~ Gee

I do however, have a little problem with the meter. It doesn't seem quite as natural as you would have it. A little more precision with the meter could help this, but then that's me.

Just for fun, do me a favor and check out the syllabus for Dramatic Verse. I would love to have your input in the workshop.

on that meter. [I think you are right], it does need a little bit of help. I will also check out the syllabus for Dramatic Verse. Thanks, ~ Gee
