NOTHING TO SEE

Another evening on the deck
watching shadows grow in length.
Nothing to see this summer eve
as heat of day loses its strength.

Everything is green on green
on all thirteen types of tree
which adorn my big back yard.
A wasp flies by ignoring me.

Can't see the pond this time of year,
too many leaves block off the view
but a blue crane rises up from it
and heads toward roost as they all do.

A wild rabbit exits the brush
in search of clover in the yard.
He's soon joined by another two.
Their quest for food won't be too hard.

For the briefest,, shortest span of time
bats and swallows share the sky
as afternoon and dusk compete
to gain dominion of the sky.

Way up in the deepening blue
shines a high jet liner in the sun
mixing its contrail with cirrus clouds.
Summer's bane buzz has begun.

One single star lights in the east
as do the evening's first fire flies
just as the moon peeks through the trees
and the last of daylight slowly dies.

I turn to she who sits with me
and Sue shares a silent smile
while we hope for a falling star
to add to nothing much to see.

You too see much in nature stan, and as Summer comes the green on green becomes more like and dark, hiding all in its heavy shawl, but you notice birds flying up through to the blue. A charming evening breath of balmy air.

"The image of yourself which you see in a mirror Is dead,
but the reflection of the moon on water, lives." Kenzan.

I sometimes fear young people are becoming so immersed in the virtual world that they don't even see there's a real world surrounding them that much more complex and wonderous than anything viewed through a screen. Thanks for the visit........stan

You missed a good show there, as evening dragged the day to it's dreams, just the last Stanza that dragged on my mind a little, I have a pet hate surviving from my Mothers Teaching, she is to me a bad reference.
I can hear my Mother saying "She, She" that's the cats Mother lol

I turn to Sue who sits with me ( she is the cats mother)
sharing a silent smile
while we hope for a falling star
to add to nothing much to see

.
There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

Using the old cliché division of form and content I would say this poem combines the two exceptionally well. The observations are precise and the rhymes seem unforced. As a result it creates a quiet, still, meditative atmosphere which is highly evocative and which reminds me of times I have spent contemplating my own garden, except that I have never been lucky enough to see a blue crane: a green woodpecker is about the best I get to see.
Best wishes,
Robert

you ought to celebrate
a new dawn
ere the wasp had come to warn
the dire need of virus infection
inflation with no explanation

twas your lucky day
Stan

here's a toast in my hand
so now stand
Stan!

But what makes me wonder still... you are so hopeful... that your poetry read they will... while you have no exposure to the www ... to show who have and who won't... till you broaden your vision... on the Internet by more explosion

so that many enveloped in their cocoons
Stan come out during noon ...or during the golden moon... to read you...
then alone you will know ...
Stan
where U and I and Ian and all the rest in the NEOPOETS LONELY www stand
hold my hand young man!
