About workshops

Workshops on Neopoet are groups that meet for a certain period of time to focus on a certain aspect of poetry. Each workshop participant is asked to critique all the other poems submitted into a workshop. A workshop leader helps coordinate -- they set the agenda, give participants feedback on whether their submissions and critique are at they level expected of them, and after the workshop is over, give feedback to participants.

To join a workshop, first find one that is of interest to you. Once you have found the right workshop (and verified that it is open -- you can find this out in the description below), you can apply to join the workshop.

Join the Neopoet online poetry workshop and community to improve as a writer, meet fellow poets, and showcase your work. Sign up, submit your poetry, and get started.

Renga 8 "A Song Of Passion"

Status:
Program description/goal:

Description: This is a meeting place for all poets on Neopoet to come and post verses of poetry to "Eternal Renga" So, come as a group or individual and post your verses anytime. This is an ongoing collaborative effort that could go on for hundreds of verses. A truly Neopoet group effort. Let's co-operate to create a truly Neopoet poem.

Leader: Barbara Writes
Moderator(s):

Objectives: To have everyone at Neopoet collaborating a Renga poem.

Level of expertise: Open to all.

Subject matter: "Each person write a verse, alternately senryu or haiku 5-7-5 syllables then a couplet of 7-7 syllables"
I can only say that the rules can not be strictly applied when writing in English. Japanese has such a completely different sound structure, grammar and even thematic considerations considered appropriate for poetry. So we have simplified it.

Alternate 3 line verses of
5-7-5 syllables like a haiku or senryu
and 2 line verses of
7--7 syllables.
Syllable Counter: http://www.poetrysoup.com/haiku_syllable_counter/

We just ask you read the preceding verses to try to maintain some thematic coherency.

As such feel free to introduce modern, western themes, but read what has been written before and make it relevant, please.

Length:
30 days
Number of participants (limit):
10 people
Date:
Sunday, July 20, 2014 to Sunday, July 27, 2014
Short description:
A Song of passion

We must learn to sing
Teach us of your ways of love
Show me the rapture

See how the passion rises
Shield me not from true loving

There are a million reasons to believe in yourself,
So find more reasons to believe in others..

Here's my contribution.

We must learn to sing
Teach us of your ways of love
Show me the rapture

See how the passion rises
Shield me not from true loving

An addition to the stream of thought:-

Love in innocence
Unconditional love blooms
A truth in all ways.

Learn of others how to feel
Feel love with your inner soul.

The syllables' count of the 3rd line in this stanza is not 5. Can someone help rectify?

Maybe I can put the finishing touches to this one as I started it off a few words ago:-

Let me therefore stay
Within your feelings to roam
In your heart is home

As we can live forever
Because we believe in us..

A good workshop of this type of writing I look forward to the next part as we have driven passion forward to its limits lol,
Yours Ian.T

We could do a series on feelings, now that passion is near finished, time to cool down to the real meaning of love, lol,
Then its co runner hate which is on the other side of the fence but one at a time will do.
Go well young lady and I hope this finds you well, and happy, Yours Ian

My mind held vice like
Kept me a captive for years
Now I am so free

I was feared to even leave
Why could I not see my life

A start on a Renga about those woman that are held in a bad place, this Renga may get through to help or just to point out some of the feelings.
I can't talk from my experiences as I is not of that gender lol
You have lovely day and keep writing,
