How To Write Shorter Poems

.
a bright fresh clean sheet of paper
like overly whitened theeth
it doesn't quite look right
let's see how I can scruffy it up

you know, I didn't really like school
and yet, can't envision now
my life without this
...the most iconic symbol of school days
a "one subject - wide ruled notebook"
don't get me wrong
I'm glad there are typewriters
and multi-fonted keyboards
I need them
...lousy penmanship
but I still like to start on paper
with a bic pen
I'll not delve into the deep
psychological implications of this
are there any?!
why would there be
then again, why not
I do feel kind'a sexy when
writing

that's it, time to end
the paper has been properly serviced
only so many words fit onto a page
of a "one subject - wide ruled notebook"

i.e. shorter poems!

amen to that

I love brevity but I also enjoy the thoughts that are woven into a longer piece and some will say brevity is harder but I think both are similar, it's that less words can make a story if you are good at it, the longer the narrative sadly the shorter the attention span is on some readers but I've never had a problem, seeing as AB Patterson's Man from Snowy River can still hold me spellbound for at least the 10 minutes it takes to read or hear it spoken. Like this one.

"The perfect woman perpetrates literature as she does a small sin: as an experiment, in passing, to see if anybody notices it - and to makes sure that somebody does." - Nietzsche

thanks for the comments...glad you liked this piece..".brevity is useful when needing to be brief " otherwise
write your lil ol' heart out....
