A Thanksgiving Scene

maeve is dancing to love boat,
and I seriously wish I could tell you.
this entire time we would be texting
and I would tell you how weird she is,
and you would probably call me a dork.
frankie bostello says love won't hurt anymore,
I wish my friends were here.
mom makes dinner for five in her penguin pajamas.
she made me put lights on the tree outside,
and the job I did was so utterly terrible
she yelled and me and redid the whole thing.
dad is napping.
dad is never not napping.
moose is drawing at the kitchen table,
between scavenging for food.
I can hear his pencil scratching.
I think of you. still.
maeve is dissatisfied with her score,
so frankie bostello sings his song, again.
I wouldn't know if he's a liar or not.
I have a lot.
and I give thanks
but i'm still waiting.

Last few words:
i'm starting to dislike family time

I could close my eyes and be there (that is if i could close my eyes and still see the words lol)

The boredom - for want of a better word - is palatable. ..
Well written, with a good finish
Thanks for sharing

'Each for the joy of the working, and each, in his separate star,
shall draw the Thing as he sees It, for the God of Things as They are.'
(Rudyard Kipling)

thank you! this year it was quite a boring holiday after all.
