I’ve decided
I’ve got Asperger’s Syndrome
It explains so much,
the failed relationships,
the unintentional cruelties,
the obsessions
poetry
drugs
love
sex
me

It explains my love for cats more than dogs,
birds keep a keen eye on me
and crocodile is my protector.

It explains never knowing what to say next
always saying the wrong thing next

It’s why if you pinch my cheek
rage engulfs me
and it’s all I can do
not to
rip your head off and piss in the hole.
its a different thing that triggers you
but I know you feel the same

It’s probably got nothing to do
with being arrogant,
not suffering fools.
no excuse, fuck the fools

It’s knowing that if I show you me
you will pity and reject me,
nicely.

I think you’ve got it too.

And my whole country

and yours

I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Last words are for failed poetry. For this poem I have to say. aspergers rule!

Except for Some Fine-Toothed Editing

This is a wonderful way to tell your story, or at least a significant part of it.

I’m blessed (with apologies for the use of that term) by the reading of it.

Your a wanker and git…but

Your a wanker and git…but we still love ya, ‘cause your a……….mate! A large portion of my family still lives in Scotland and England. I get told that a lot from them and my mates.

I may dress in armour, I can even do funny Monty Python English Prep School Prat voices. But believe it or not my best friend has Aspergers Syndrome.

This piece reminded me of him, I called him up and read it to him. All I got back was a “Damn somebody has been living in my closet watching me…” It really hit him.

Thanks Jess for posting it.

David

PS I hope this reply made sense to you. It is so very hard to describe to my fellow Americans what being a “Mate” is all about.-Cheers!

I love it

I have a friend with Asberger’s
- or at least a shopping cart filled with that and other labels. This poem works. Thanks for sharing.

I will rip your head off and

I will rip your head off and piss in the hole.
I don’t mean to make light of this very serious piece but this just grab my throat and made me see the movie, Full Metal Jacket. I don’t mean to sound. . dumb, but I freely admit that I have no friggin clue what or who an Asberger is. Therefore, I can only relate this poem to what flaws (or qualities)you see in yourself. Besides the pissing in fleshy holes I can sympathize with this self potrait except for the cat/dog thing. After all my screen name IS Rottiestyl. Great writing. Passion and fear abounds!

I misspelt it is Aspergers

And there is no reason for feeling dumb not knowing it. It’s a fairly recently diagnosed variant of Autism, tending to be more socially functional but characterised by the inability to form close personal social relationships. Often associated with “Savant” abilities. Like uncanny abilities with maths or in creative fields.
I have not been diagnosed with it, but have grown up around it. The world made a lot more sense for a lot of people I love when it was recognised.
cheers,
Jess

interesting

I will have to do some research on it. I teach autistic students every quarter in my kitchen, and maybe I should read up on this.

I had that happen once

and when I had to disinfect the hole, it stung! Jess, I seriously can’t find anything wrong here. Even where you left the uncapitalized letter at the begining of a sentence works for me. Keep it.
