Sleeping’s getting harder
I’m awake all the time
My brain’s an empty larder
My consciousness sublime
But ideas keep on coming
Lines appear before my eyes
Though not sleeping I’m not bumming
It’s best to temporize
Work while the muse assaults me
Waves of thoughts and words arise
Breaching my mind’s Levee
Without pause or compromise
When sleep comes it will be so sweet
Like cotton candy at county fair
My weary head will pillow meet
And respite will find me there
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back

Sleeping's Getting Harder
I think we have all felt as you described in your lines as poets, nice job
Many thanks
Many Thanks for your kind words
Frenzy
I felt the frenzy of words just flooding in and know well that feeling of sleeplessness until a work is complete very nice rhyming on this one. Nice writing
Thankyou
Thanks for the kudos, my wife is not finding my sleeplessness all that inspiring. I will fix this by drinking more, thinking less, and sleeping normal hours.
Well, maybe?
