A succession of headlands fades mistily,
soft europeanly,
so unlike our fiercely factual australian light.
I expect a dragon to swoop from the clouds,
or at least a viking longship to appear.
they don’t
perhaps its best that way.

whoa there boyo!

No war comment in this one, you are reading way too far in. (Oh, and by the way, if you mean the war in Iraq then yes our country is fighting in it, although it will certainly cost the Prime Minister his job next election).
The idea is that this scene I saw through the eyes of European history/mythology really was just good old Aussie and best left that way. Us Europeans have done a lot of harm here by trying to impose our views, as Europeans did everywhere for that matter.
cheers

editing this poem

I went to edit it to try and provide a segue based on your comments, Mark which were, as usual, really pertinent, but it was full of HTML which I sadly admit to being completely ignorant of. May re-post it soon.

I commented?

I commented on this? I know I meant to, but then I didn’t see my comment here just now, huh.
