I.
(You are a Cobra)
You’ve sharp
features
and a friendly smile
that belie what you’re thinking.
If I touched your skin,
you would be cold - blooded
and you would press yourself back
in a threatening manner.
There is little in you
that I can trust,
you are a cobra,
with gleaming cold eyes
and only knowledge
leading your way.
II.
(You are a Viper)
Which world do
I want to live in?
One of positive energy
and reinforcement.
I want to live
in the place
where I belong.
But you dig your
fangs deeply into me,
and discourage
me at every turn.
Now I am
poisoned,
now you
can taste a
little blood
on my arm.
How many layers of
skin can
you shed
before I see you
for what
you are?
You are
a viper,
telling me to
be fat and lazy.
For to you,
my health
and well being
are a threat,
are obnoxious.
III.
(You are a Rattler)
There is so
much anger
emanating
from you
that I can see
you shake,
I can hear
your warnings,
but it is too
late for me.
If I had wings
I would
save myself
from your
venomous bite.
But you have
clipped them
and in turn,
made me
sluggish.
So says the
wounded bird.
If I lay
helpless
I would hear
your baby’s toy.
You are
a rattler
winding through
the brush.
