It Was Me
I was the bluejay that perched on your porch,
and I am the moth, flying straight towards your torch.
I was the old man, who held open the door,
it was me who found your wallet, at the grocery store.
I was the sun shower that briefly passed overhead,
and I am the reason the light didn’t turn red.
I am your footsteps echoing down the hall,
It was me who turned the wheel, when you had that close call.
I’m the smiles and the laughter when you tell my stories,
and I made you look where you found your car keys.
It was me who made your radio, suddenly turn on,
and I am the DJ, that played you that song.
I am the wind that blows through the chimes,
I play this music to remind you of all the good times.
I am the waves, the sand, the sun in your hair,
it is me that determines where to place your beach chair.
I was the doctor who brought you good news,
and the sale at the shoe store, was my gift to you.
I kiss you each night when you turn in to bed,
be silent and you’ll feel my warm breath on your head.
I’m full of surprises, listen carefully,
I put money in the pockets, of your dirty laundry.
I’m here when you visit and we’re never alone,
‘cause I’m always beside you, not under that stone.
So when the moon lights the sky, so brilliantly,
or if you finish a sentence with the word, “luckily”,
and the next time you just make it, oh so narrowly,
remember, it was me, it was me, it was me.

Great!
