You sleep in shadows
Lie in wait
Felt but unseen
Waiting for the moment
Upon another victim
You will creep
You forage in desperation
Grow with the moon and all it holds
Nourished by every searching tear
Mightier in the depth of lonely fear
Exhaustion is your ally
Where you continue to drain
You kill all hope around
Because you fear it knows your name
You scar all you touch
Sometimes survived
But never escaped
As you drown your victim in darkness
You keep all others away
Those who’ve met you
Never forget you
And though they know
Where you prey
Sometimes to the shadows
They cannot help but stray

I feel this poem in my stomach
a knot in my belly.
Shady yet real.
In ink,
