He lie on his bed of suffering
Death so near

I give him a touch of Morphine
Blessed Morphine, dulls the pain and
Takes away the cruel edge of his fear

Dozing in and out, he suddenly
Calls my name as he
Frantically searches for my hand

I quickly take his hand in mine
I will not leave you, I will be
by your side, I whisper softly

Sleep now, sleep.  I will be your
hope until the end is here

I am your nurse, God gave you to me
To care for in your time of need

The angels draw ever near
I can feel their presence here

There is a light, there is a door
That only you can see

Move towards them now
They shall set you free

I will stay at your side
Until you no longer need a guide

I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
This is one of many poems I wrote while I was a Hospice Nurse

Linda...

I have a very high regard for Nurses and CNA’s in the medical
profession.. they are the backbone and the personal care givers
that often go unthanked… my wife is in the field..

and oh yea… some of em look so good in their uniforms too..

oops.. back to the poem.. loved it!

Linda, this brought me to tears.

You do not know just how special the Hospice nurses are to me. They were there for us and my mother. They are literally God’s Angels to me. Thank you so very very much for writing this. Gotta stop typing now.

Thank you, I am glad Hospice was there for you and your family. It has not been too many years ago, that not much was known about this service.

I'm a little more together now

Yes, Hospice was relatively unknown at the time mama died, but let me tell you. They were a God-send for mama and for us. They even provided moral support for us along with mama. When anyone asks me about Hospice I always tell them that they are the greatest group of people I have ever met. God bless each and every one of the Hospice nurses. Amen.

Linda

Maybe you are an angel at the bedside of those passing through.
We had Hospice when my sister passed away. This was a great poem,
I think the best you have written. Thank you for giving your
peace to the ones passing through.. I gotta admire you…..

sincerely,
Patty
