You poets in the northern hemisphere
Don’t get to see the most spectacular
Of the irregular galaxies,
The Small and Large Magellanic Clouds.
Ferdinand in the sixteenth century
Brought word of them to Europe.
So, thinking to enlighten you,
Sad northern hemisphere poets
Here’s what you are missing.
The clouds, like moons,
Are believed to orbit
The much larger Milky Way.
Like any object with
Mass in the universe,
Galaxies feel the irresistible
Tug of gravity.
Like this poet,
From the Southern hemisphere
Drawn by the tug of gravity
By poets in the Northern.
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back

I have heard,
the southern hemisphere IS the place to be for astronomy ect….
maybe one day I will get to check it out.
I still wish I had a telescope.
sincerely,
Mark
Clear skies
Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. Don’t know where on the planet you are, but just with your own eyes you can maybe see the wonder of the night sky? One of my missions in life is to persuade people to look up and get to know the sky again It was an essential knowledge for previous generations and we seem to have lost that skill. OK I’ll stop raving on now….;-)

What about the Eastern
What about the Eastern poets? :-(
Actually this is pretty cool. You could elaborate on ‘what you are missing’ before the conclusion. It feels a little too brief but the flow is real sweet.

Eastern poets?
To my knowledge there are only two hemispheres, the Northern and the Southern. These Eastern poets must be off the planet I think.
Thank you for reading and your comment.

Stellar Poem Indeed!
I’m not much of a (bodily) traveler, but your southern stars are a sight I would like to see someday. We “sad northern hemisphere poets” must be massive to exert such a pull on you; our egos, I suppose… :-,? (user is smoking a pipe—a bent shape, apparently)
