Thought of the Moment

The opportunity to learn something is the greatest gift that anyone can be given. We spend our youth not recognizing this truth, and the rest of our lives regretting that we didn't.

Greatest Influence
About me I have been writing poetry for 11 years. I used to think it was pretty good, but now I'm not so sure. I'm starting to wonder whether it is nothing more than an exercise in my own vanity. I was on the Advocate Election Committee during its first term. I try to make comments when I think I have something to contribute, but I don't know much about poetry, so I'm not sure whether my opinion is really worth anything. I live. I learn. I laugh. I try.

Where are the other poems?

Michael,
Did you delete the other poems that were there in your profile? Now I see only a few that were done recently. How did you delete them? why? Is there any way that I can read the rest that I loved so much, when I feel like reading them?

Regards,
Nilmini

They should all be there

I did not delete any of them. At the bottom of the box that lists my poems you should see the words ” view all work.” If you click on those words the complete list of everything that I have published on the website should appear. If that doesn’t happen, please let me know. I will have to get in touch with Andrew, and find out what is going on if you still cannot see them. It is good to see that you are still around. I hope that everything is going well for you. I did set most of my poems to members only, so that means that you will need to login using your password in order to read them. However, I don’t think that that could be the problem because I assume that you login to the website every time you visit. If you are not logged in to the website, you will not be able to read the other poems. I set them to members only because I’m trying to get some of them published, and the rules for most poetry journals state that only poems that are password protected are considered to be unpublished work on the Internet. In most cases, only unpublished work is eligible for publication. If you’re still having a problem reading them, please contact me again because I would definitely like to get this problem fixed so that you will be able to read them.

Regards,

Michael

Thanks Michael

I think there was a problem yesterday, because your profile looked completely different than what it looks like today. The words ” view all work” were not there yesterday. But today I see them. So, no problem now. Hope it was a temporary problem!

Hope you’ll get more & more poetic thoughts!

Best Regards,
Nilmini

Just curious-

Is that L’Arc de Triomphe in the background and if so, where did you get that pic?
I assume it is, given the table umbrellas. Have you lived in Paris?

Yes, that is L’Arc de Triomphe

Yes, that is L’Arc de Triomphe. I got the picture at this website: http://www.weeworld.com/

At that website anyone can design their own character. It’s kind of corny, but I like it because the character can display aspects of the person. For example, I have a bonsai tree, so I put a bonsai tree in the picture.

I have never lived in Paris. I did spend one week in Paris in 1979. In 1985, I did spend two weeks in France, but I was in the south of France in Nice. I studied French for seven years at a university Illinois. Sorry, I can’t communicate in French on this website because I use a speech dictation system for typing on my computer and I only have the software for English. I love France. One day maybe I will return for another visit.

I checked out the website

but I see that to get your picture you have to give identifying information. I also studied French for many years but have never gone to France. I’ve only used my skills in Québec and on-line. I don’t speak it all that well but read it much better. Thanks for answering.
